PROTOCOL GUIDE

Peptides for chronic inflammation: lowering the load your body is carrying every day.

A physician-informed guide to peptides for chronic inflammation and autoimmune support — how glutathione, BPC-157, microdose tirzepatide and NAD+ are used, what the evidence shows, dosing, safety, and how a prescribed protocol works at Origin Wellness.

Chronic inflammation is not the same as an autoimmune disease

Acute inflammation is useful — it is how you heal a cut. Chronic low-grade inflammation is different: a persistent, systemic signal that never resolves. It shows up on labs as an elevated hs-CRP, and it feels like morning stiffness, aching joints without injury, background fatigue, brain fog, poor sleep and skin that flares easily.

Most of that load is metabolic. Visceral fat is an active endocrine organ that secretes inflammatory cytokines; insulin resistance, poor sleep, high alcohol intake and chronic stress all add to the same pool. This is the version of inflammation that peptides can genuinely help with, because it has a metabolic engine you can act on.

Autoimmune disease is a different problem: the immune system attacking a specific tissue — thyroid, joints, gut, skin. Hashimoto's, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, psoriasis and inflammatory bowel disease need diagnosis and, in many cases, disease-modifying treatment from a rheumatologist or specialist. Peptides may support comfort and recovery alongside that care. They do not replace it, and any clinic telling you otherwise is putting you at risk.

How these peptides lower inflammatory load

Glutathione is the body's principal intracellular antioxidant and a direct counterweight to oxidative stress, which both drives and results from chronic inflammation. Depleted glutathione is documented in a wide range of inflammatory and autoimmune conditions; restoring it does not switch inflammation off, but it lowers the oxidative burden that keeps the loop running.

BPC-157 is studied for tissue repair and for modulating the local inflammatory response in damaged tissue, with the deepest preclinical work in gut and connective tissue. Where inflammation is being fed by an unhealed gut lining or a chronically irritated tendon, that repair matters more than any systemic effect.

Microdose tirzepatide addresses the metabolic engine. Lower circulating insulin and reduced visceral fat mean fewer inflammatory cytokines produced at the source — and hs-CRP falling on labs is one of the more reliable changes clients see. NAD+ supports mitochondrial function and the sirtuin pathways involved in regulating inflammatory signalling.

Researched benefits

A measurable target

hs-CRP gives you an objective number to track rather than relying on how you feel on a given week.

Less morning stiffness

The stiff, creaky first hour of the day is often the first symptom clients notice easing.

Metabolic root cause

Reducing visceral fat and insulin resistance cuts inflammation at its largest source rather than downstream.

Lower oxidative burden

Glutathione replenishes the antioxidant system that chronic inflammation depletes.

Tissue-level repair

BPC-157 targets the unhealed gut or connective tissue that can keep feeding a systemic signal.

Supports specialist care

For diagnosed autoimmune disease these protocols run alongside your specialist's treatment, never instead of it.

No peptide is FDA-approved to treat chronic inflammation or any autoimmune disease. Glutathione's antioxidant biochemistry is well established, but trial evidence for symptom outcomes is limited. BPC-157 is not FDA-approved and its evidence is preclinical. Tirzepatide is approved for weight management and diabetes, and reductions in inflammatory markers are a documented consequence of the metabolic improvement rather than a separate approved indication. NAD+ human evidence is early. Nothing here is immunosuppressive or disease-modifying — if you have an autoimmune diagnosis, the medication that changes the course of your disease is the one your specialist prescribes.

How inflammation support protocol is dosed

We start with objective markers: hs-CRP, fasting insulin and HbA1c, a lipid panel, ferritin, vitamin D, and thyroid function including antibodies where indicated. Joint pain with swelling, morning stiffness lasting over an hour, rashes, or a positive autoantibody screen means rheumatology referral — and we make it.

Where the picture is metabolic, microdose tirzepatide usually anchors the protocol, with glutathione for oxidative load. BPC-157 is added where a specific tissue — gut lining, tendon, joint — is part of the problem. NAD+ where fatigue dominates.

Timelines: stiffness and energy often shift in four to six weeks. hs-CRP is worth remeasuring at twelve weeks, not sooner — it fluctuates with any minor illness, so a single reading during a cold means nothing.

Sleep, alcohol reduction and resistance training are part of the protocol. Alcohol in particular raises inflammatory markers reliably, and no protocol outruns a nightly habit.

  • Injectable (subcutaneous)

Subcutaneous injection; BPC-157 may be oral or injectable depending on the goal. All protocols include supplies, guidance and clinician oversight.

At Origin Wellness, dosing is never self-directed. Your protocol is written by a licensed physician after reviewing your assessment, and it is adjusted at follow-up based on your response. Read more about how that review works on our approach page.

Safety, side effects, and who should avoid it

The most important safety point here is diagnostic. Undiagnosed autoimmune disease that gets treated as generic inflammation can progress and cause permanent damage — joint erosion in rheumatoid arthritis, organ involvement in lupus. Our intake screens for that pattern deliberately.

  • Swollen joints, morning stiffness over an hour, unexplained rashes, fevers or weight loss need rheumatology evaluation before a wellness protocol.
  • If you already have an autoimmune diagnosis, these protocols supplement specialist treatment — never stop a disease-modifying medication to try peptides.
  • GLP-1 and dual-agonist medications are not appropriate with a history of pancreatitis, or a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN2.
  • BPC-157 is not FDA-approved, availability varies by state, and cancer history requires review before prescribing.
  • Not for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • hs-CRP rises with any acute infection — do not interpret a single elevated result during illness as protocol failure.
  • Alcohol, poor sleep and untreated apnea all raise inflammatory markers; the protocol cannot compensate for them.

How inflammation support protocol fits into a full protocol

This fits people with an elevated hs-CRP and no autoimmune diagnosis, with metabolic risk factors, morning stiffness, aching without injury, and the persistent low-grade fatigue that comes with a high inflammatory load. It also fits people with a diagnosed autoimmune condition, already under specialist care, looking for support alongside it.

It is not a fit for anyone hoping a peptide will replace a rheumatologist or a disease-modifying medication. That is the one line we will not cross.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I have chronic inflammation?

hs-CRP is the most accessible marker, and we check it alongside fasting insulin, HbA1c, ferritin and vitamin D. Symptoms alone are too nonspecific to act on — the labs tell you whether there is something to treat and give you a number to track.

Can peptides treat my autoimmune disease?

No. Autoimmune disease needs diagnosis and, usually, disease-modifying treatment from a specialist. Peptides may help with comfort, recovery and metabolic health alongside that care. Never stop a specialist's medication to try a peptide protocol.

Why is a weight-loss medication in an inflammation protocol?

Because visceral fat actively secretes inflammatory cytokines and insulin resistance amplifies the signal. Reducing both lowers inflammation at its largest source, and falling hs-CRP is one of the more consistent lab changes clients see on microdosing.

What does glutathione do here?

It replenishes the body's main intracellular antioxidant, which chronic inflammation depletes. It lowers oxidative burden rather than blocking an inflammatory pathway — helpful, but not the same as an anti-inflammatory drug, and we do not present it as one.

How long before my labs change?

Symptoms like stiffness and energy usually shift in four to six weeks. Remeasure hs-CRP at twelve weeks — it moves with any minor illness, so early readings are unreliable.

Is this the same as taking an anti-inflammatory?

No. NSAIDs block an enzyme to suppress an inflammatory signal, which works quickly and has its own gut and kidney costs. These protocols work slowly by lowering the underlying load. Different tools, different jobs — and for acute pain, the NSAID is often the right one.

Will I have to stop drinking?

You will have to reduce it. Alcohol raises inflammatory markers reliably and disrupts the deep sleep that resolves inflammation overnight. We would rather be honest that a nightly habit will cap your results than let you spend money working against yourself.
